June

1.5 years of study down - 1.5 years to go.
I don't do much drawing anymore - i seem to have grown out of trying to construct feminine worlds inside the boundaries of A4 sheets of paper. (plus who has the time when you're trying to pass ten subjects at once?) These days i am focusing on taking pictures of flowers instead because they are the truest and most beautiful things. One day i'll go back to the paintbrush - but it'll be different because now i see things differently.

  1. I don't consider drawing immature. Still, this is an exciting new endeavour, and I look forward to seeing what you create :)

    1. Thanks Sophie - it is very exciting to test out new methods!
I don't see drawing as immature either, quite the contrary - rather i've moved away from the work that i used to consider very close to my heart and do not know how to contain all the things that i wan't to express in such small peices of paper. (time to move onto a larger scale, different mediums - that's why i'm studying clothing design and textiles at the moment.)

  2. I think I understand what you mean - some forms of expression sometimes seem to run their course, at least temporarily (it's music with me, which I'm hoping to take up again someday). However, I'm curious to see how your different view of things will translate to your paintings in the future! x

    1. yes, temporarily, i hope so too! i think it's about reconfiguring and not getting stuck in the space of what people expect from you and what you expect from yourself. gotta push it!

  3. So beautifully said Caitlin... I still am and always will be a huge fan of your paintings, and do still hope to get an original from you to hang in a beautiful frame and lose myself in the fragile world you captured so delicately in paint <3
I love your photographs too though, do what makes you happy in the moment <3
